Prepare this assignment as a 1,500-1,750-word paper using the instructor feedback from the previous course assignments and the guidelines below.

PICOT Question 

Revise the PICOT question you wrote in the Topic 1 assignment using the feedback you received from your instructor.
The final PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Research Critiques

In the Topic 2 and Topic 3 assignments, you completed qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research critiques on two articles for each type of study (four articles total). Use the feedback you received from your instructor on these assignments to finalize the critical analysis of each study by making appropriate revisions.

The completed analysis should connect to your identified practice problem of interest that is the basis for your PICOT question.

Use the “Research Critiques and PICOT Question Guidelines – Final Draft” document to organize your essay. Questions under each heading should be addressed as a narrative in the structure of a formal paper.

Week 2 discussion: Food security.

Instructions

Pick any one question and respond in an original discussion post by midnight, Day 4 of Week 2.

After the initial post, you must also provide substantive responses to at least 2 of your classmates’ posts and remain active on at least 
2 additional days during Week 2.

1. Are the causes of food insecurity and food scarcity the same? Discuss in detail with examples. Are the causes individual or systemic, and which actors (production, distribution, consumption, or disposal) impact food security the most? Next, what is the relationship between food justice and racial justice? How can nurse professionals detect the food insecurities in their patients’ lives and help alleviate them? (USLOs 2.2, 2.3, 2.4)

If you are comfortable, can you share the situations the food insecurity presents to the person or family without referring to any names or relations? Do you think environmental issues caused them? Explain. What are the root causes of “hunger” issues, and how can they be eliminated? Next, how would nursing professionals help with the food insecurity issues of their patients? Case:

A 16-year-old boy comes to clinic with chief complaint of sore throat for 3 days. Denies fever or chills. PMH negative for recurrent colds, influenza, ear infections or pneumonias. NKDA or food allergies. Physical exam reveals temp of 99.6 F, pulse 78 and regular with respirations of 18. HEENT normal with exception of reddened posterior pharynx with white exudate on tonsils that are enlarged to 3+. Positive anterior and posterior cervical adenopathy. Rapid strep test performed in office was positive. His HCP wrote a prescription for amoxicillin 500 mg po q 12 hours x 10 days disp #20. He took the first capsule when he got home and immediately complained of swelling of his tongue and lips, difficulty breathing with audible wheezing. 911 was called and he was taken to the hospital, where he received emergency treatment for his allergic reaction.
