Research Critique on Impact of Nursing diversity

write a critique of a research article. (example will be provided)

research article will be provided in pdf format.

research topic is “The Impact of Nursing Diversity in Patient Care on the Medical-Surgical Floor”

Please review previous work done and follow the rubric carefully and write each answer in different paragraphs with titles;

Rubric;

1.      Is the research study relevant to the study of nursing, (be specific   and include examples from the article)?

2.  Is the method/design appropriate in terms of the research question/hypothesis? What was the research question/hypothesis? Was it clearly stated? Refer back to Polit & Beck (2021) (The Method Section). Key elements are discussed, and identification of items should be included. Provide a description of each of these key elements.

3.   What is the theoretical context? See chapter 7 in Polit & Beck. The terms theoretical and conceptual frameworks are used interchangeably. Theories are used to describe, predict, explain, and to control phenomena.   (Theoria is a Greek Word that means beholding or speculation).

“Theoretical frameworks provide the organization for the study. It guides the researcher in the interpretations of the results. the importance of the theory is dependent on the degree of research based evidence and level of its theory development. There are four levels of theory development 1) factor isolating (describe phenomena) 2) Factor relating (explain phenomena), 3) Situation relating (predict

the relationships between/among phenomena), 4) Situation producing (control phenomena and relationships

**If your article does not have a theoretical framework what do you suggest based on Polit & Beck Chapter 7?

4.  Describe the results of the study (identify if they are believable or not)

5.  Are the results significant? In what way-explain use examples?

6.   Are the results transferable? How? Transferability refers to the readers of the research to make connections but invites readers of research to make connections between elements of a study and their own experience. Transferability does not involve broad claims. How does this research apply to YOUR specific practice as a Registered Nurse?

According to Brown (2005), Transferability can be enhanced by providing what is often referred to as thick description (i.e., giving enough detail so the readers can decide for themselves if the results

are transferable to their own contexts).

7.  Implications for nursing practice, be specific how would this study impact nursing practice (use specific examples from the article)?

8.  Implications for future research, be specific and use examples from the article.

9.  The paper shall reflect a scholarly effort; proper grammar, coherence, spelling, and accurately use APA format. Have someone proof read your paper. Read your paper out loud to yourself.

Assignment: Utilize Feedback through Self-Reflection and Literature Review

In Week 7, you integrated and applied elements of the course content in the Signature Assignment, which allowed you to address a significant question or issue (i.e., through creative thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, inquiry, and analysis). Using the feedback from your Week 7 assignment, you will have the opportunity to complete a self-reflection and respond accordingly.  Reflect on and respond to how the feedback provided can help you improve your academic performance and contribute to your professional growth. In addition to your self-reflection, you will also conduct an independent literature review of relevant scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. Choose sources that support your ideas for enhancement of the course competencies and content areas where you have identified opportunities for improvement. For example, if your professor indicated you need improvement in the area of team leadership, select sources that would enhance your knowledge and skill base in this area.

Part 1: Self-Reflection

You will complete a self-reflection using the
Feedback Review Template. The
Feedback Review Template is located in this week's Course Resources area.  To complete your self-reflection, seek clarity from your professor about the areas you did not understand or areas that require improvement. Schedule a one-to-one meeting with your professor to discuss the feedback provided and to inform your responses.  Use the
Feedback Review Template to address the following themes:

· How you developed and demonstrated the course competencies tied to this course.

· The practical relevance of the course concepts and course competencies to your professional growth and career interests.

· Future considerations (e.g., key trends or challenges) to keep in mind as related to the topics covered in this course.

Be sure to comprehensively address the feedback provided by professor for your Week 7 Signature Assignment. As you complete the template, you will be asked to address the following questions:

· What are the areas in which your professor indicated you did well? Why do you think you did well in this (these) areas?

· What are the areas in which your professor indicated you need to improve? What can you do to improve in this (these) areas?

· How did your professor's feedback help your mastery of the course subject matter?

· How did the Week 7 Signature Assignment and this course help you to develop the course competencies?

· What aspects of this assignment can you take forward into your professional career and why?

· How did this course contribute to your understanding of possible trends and/or challenges related to the profession of health administration in the future? What do you need to consider regarding the course topic and why?

Part 2:
Annotated Bibliography

You will prepare an annotated bibliography of three scholarly, peer-reviewed resources to enhance your knowledge base related to selected course competencies and that is informed by your self-reflection and professor feedback. The resources must be current, published within the past 3-5 years. Each annotated bibliography should be no less than three robust paragraphs. Use feedback from your professor to identify scholarly, peer-reviewed sources that can help you improve in the areas noted (e.g., assignment enhancement, personal and/or professional growth, topic of further interest prompted by the course content).

Use the annotated bibliography guide from Academic Success Center (ASC)* to ensure that your annotated bibliography meets all requirements.

Remember, for this assignment, each annotated bibliography should be no less than three robust paragraphs.

Assignment Requirements

Be sure to submit your assignment as one single document with two parts:  Part 1 will be a summary of your self-reflection using the
Feedback Review Template and Part 2 will be your annotated bibliography.

 Title page

Part 1: Based on the completion of your
Feedback Review Template, provide a self-reflection summary on how this course contributed to your professional growth and your understanding of future trends and/or challenges related to your profession (2 pages minimum).

Case Study: Bobby, a 13-year-old male, was hospitalized following a perforated appendix that required surgery. Bobby has an open wound requiring dressing changes twice daily. He is currently on contact precautions for a methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. The estimated date of discharge is five-to-ten-days post-op and will include long-term antibiotics and wound care.

The nurse notes on the assessment- Previously Bobby was talkative and related his enthusiasm for school and upcoming science competitions. However, today, he was withdrawn and stated, “I’m just tired”.

  • What are the impacts when an adolescent is separated from their peer group?
  • How should the nurse arrange for visitation and playtime during Bobby’s hospitalization and isolation?
  • What concerns with body image would the nurse anticipate?
  • Why is “play” an important part of childhood?

The United States Supreme Court is the highest federal judicial system with ultimate appellate jurisdiction over federal court cases. Once the supreme court makes its final judgment, no other body can overturn it. The number of cases taken to the Supreme Court is limited because it deals with the most sensitive matters (Greenberg et al., 2020). Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is among the recent cases handled by the Supreme Court. Supreme Court rejected the previous court decision and gave states the power to regulate abortion after arguing that there is no federal right to abortion in the American Constitution (Lambert et al., 2023). This case was appealed severally before it reached the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judges revised the decisions made before by lower courts. This law presented national implications since the American states were given the power to enact their regulations regarding the same since abortion rights are not protected by the federal constitution. After the Supreme Court decision, many states have established new laws prohibiting abortion.

As a medical professional, I do not support this decision because I believe it was influenced by the political environment rather than findings from clinical studies and scientific facts. Once a supreme court decides, the likelihood of overturning the decision is minimal. Women can seek medical abortion due to many personal matters, and as we respect the patient’s autonomy, women’s decisions should be respected. Our constitution protects the right to privacy under the 14th Amendment. Thus, any woman's decision to seek an abortion should be treated like a privacy right and not be exposed without consent or permission. Therefore, it would be better if the supreme court revised and reversed this decision.
