week 1

This discussion forum will focus on the first step in program planning: assembling the change team.

1,Review the Process of Program Planning document posted in the Week 1 module. The objective of step 1 in the program planning process is to assemble a team of leaders, staff members and possibly healthcare consumers with the authority, expertise, credibility and motivation necessary to drive a successful change program.

2.Consider your workplace, or the workplace where you will complete your capstone project. Answer the following questions in your initial post:

a. Provide a brief description of the workplace, at the level where change will be instituted (ie. unit versus hospital)

b. Which individuals would you want on a team to investigate the need for change? It is not necessary to name individuals, but rather to list their job titles. What is your rationale for selecting these individuals? Do they fulfill any of the following team roles?

Executive Sponsor –a senior leader with enough clout to implement new approaches

Clinical or Technical Support-has expert knowledge of the relevant clinical subject matter or of the technology used

Champion– Staff who are supportive of a change, and willing to mentor others to make change happen

Front-line leader– Understands the impacts of making changes on processes used in the delivery of nursing and healthcare

c. Discuss the use of interdisciplinary change teams. Are they more or less impactful than those of one discipline? Please provide a rationale explaining your answer.

In addition to your original post, be sure to provide a meaningful response to at least two of your peer’s posts. The discussion closure for each week’s discussion topic is Sunday night at 11:59pm Mountain Time. (It is the expectation of this course that each student respond to any questions asked of them in the discussion forum by Sunday at 11:59pm Mountain Time.). cite all resources per APA

DIABETES AND DRUG TREATMENTS

Each year, 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes (American Diabetes Association, 2019). If left untreated, diabetic patients are at risk for several alterations, including heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, neuropathy, and blindness. There are various methods for treating diabetes, many of which include some form of drug therapy. The type of diabetes as well as the patient’s behavior factors will impact treatment recommendations.

For this Discussion, you compare types of diabetes, including drug treatments for type 1, type 2, gestational, and juvenile diabetes.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources for this module and reflect on differences between types of diabetes, including type 1, type 2, gestational, and juvenile diabetes.
  • Select one type of diabetes to focus on for this Discussion.
  • Consider one type of drug used to treat the type of diabetes you selected, including proper preparation and administration of this drug. Then, reflect on dietary considerations related to treatment.
  • Think about the short-term and long-term impact of the diabetes you selected on patients, including effects of drug treatments.

Post a brief explanation of the differences between the types of diabetes, including type 1, type 2, gestational, and juvenile diabetes. Describe one type of drug used to treat the type of diabetes you selected, including proper preparation and administration of this drug. Be sure to include dietary considerations related to treatment. Then, explain the short-term and long-term impact of this type of diabetes on patients. including effects of drug treatments. Be specific and provide examples.

Diet and weight control play a crucial role in health to stop risks for chronic diseases like diabetes. When you maintain a healthy diet full of essential nutrients and vitamins by eating an adequate amount of healthy foods the risk of any development of chronic diseases reduce. (The center of diseases (2018). The cardiovascular system is a major contributor for your body and eating more fruits and vegetables can help with maintaining a healthy heart. Exercise is very important for the body to maintain a healthy body weight status. Based on EBP, when you maintain a healthy lifestyle and get your essential daily intake in control the risks of becoming obese is very low. Developing a healthy lifestyle with good nutritional values helps the body with development over time as everybody ages. A lot of Americans and culture driven like the Hispanic people are becoming obese by following a high calorie, high processed foods, and a high sugar intake diet. People who drink pop, eat deli meats, cookies, and cakes are becoming overweight and developing diabetes and have hypertension. This is so important that we start to understand the importance of exercise, eating a balanced healthy meal containing vitamins and nutrients that break down fats from high sugars or processed foods. If we have a understanding about how we can make healthy lifestyle choices by eating right and maintaining a healthy weight status then we can lower any risk favors due to obesity and/or other chronic diseases.

Option 1:

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and the Fourteenth Amendment both aim to address issues of equality, but they focus on separate concepts. The ERA, first proposed in 1923, is explicitly targeted at gender-based discrimination, seeking to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens regardless of sex “The Equal Rights Amendment would put protection for women and other marginalized genders directly into the United States Constitution.” (MacKinnon & Crenshaw, 2019).  In contrast, the Fourteenth Amendment, ratified in 1868, is a broader constitutional provision that encompasses various civil rights issues, including the Equal Protection Clause, which ensures equal protection under the law without specifying gender “The U.S. The Supreme Court has consistently ruled for decades that the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment protects women from unequal treatment under the law.” (Herrod et al., 2021). While both amendments share the goal of promoting equality, the ERA is specifically concerned with gender equality, whereas the Fourteenth Amendment has a broader scope, addressing a range of civil rights issues such as race, gender, and other forms of discrimination.

Introduction to Statistics

It has long been a requirement for health care workers to take an Introduction to Statistics class. Why is it important for a person working in health care to understand statistical concepts? To answer this question, please provide two specific examples incorporating two different statistical terms from “Visual Learner Statistics,” located in the Topic 1 Resources. Do not use the same examples as those in a prior post. You may reference other articles in this topic or conduct your own scholarly research if more statistical terms are needed.

Initial discussion question posts should be a minimum of 200 words and include at least two references cited using APA format. Responses to peers or faculty should be 100-150 words and include one reference. Refer to “HLT-362V Discussion Question Rubric” and “HLT-362V Participation Rubric,” located in Class Resources, to understand the expectations for initial discussion question posts and participation posts, respectively.

Article Summary 2

  1. What is the research question?
  2. What research method is being used?
  3. How are the subjects chosen (explain the parameters & how many)
  4. What are the results of the study?
  5. What are the recommendations?
  6. What is your opinion?
