Margo is a 49-year-old divorced woman who works as a bank teller. She tells her primary care provider (PCP) that she feels tired all the time and that she is gaining weight because she has no interest in her usual exercise activities, and that she has been overeating, even though she is often not really hungry. She notices that she has difficulty falling asleep at night and awakens around 4 a.m. most mornings, without her alarm, and cannot go back to sleep even though she still feels tired. She finds little joy in her life but cannot pinpoint any particular concern or event causing this problem. The PCP asks Angela to fill out a Beck’s Depression Scale, which indicates she has moderate depression.

  • Choose a pharmacologic intervention for Margo.
  • Provide Margo with written education regarding her prescription. (Include what she should expect when first taking the drug, appropriate activity warnings, when to expect improvement, side effects she may experience, and anything she should report to the provider).

Nursing Theory NP 501

For many students enrolled in NR501, this is an initial course for nursing theory. So, let’s have a debate. Is nursing theory important to the nursing profession? In particular, is it important for nurse practitioners? Does theory inform nurse practitioner practice? If you believe that it is important, explain why it is useful. If you do not believe that it is useful, explain why nursing theory is not necessary to the profession.

Post a comparison of at least two APRN board of nursing regulations in your state/region with those of at least one other state/region. Describe how they may differ. Be specific and provide examples. Then, explain how the regulations you selected may apply to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) who have legal authority to practice within the full scope of their education and experience. Provide at least one example of how APRNs may adhere to the two regulations you selected

An 83-year-old resident of a skilled nursing facility presents to the emergency department with generalized edema of extremities and abdomen. History obtained from staff reveals the patient has history of malabsorption syndrome and difficulty eating due to lack of dentures. The patient has been diagnosed with protein malnutrition.

This patient has a history of malabsorption syndrome, which is the body’s inability to absorb necessary nutrients from an ingested food and will lead to protein, vitamin and electrolyte deficiencies. This may also be the cause of his generalized edema. many factors can lead to the diagnosis of this patient, such as the underlying condition of the patient, age and physicals factors.

Base of this patient age, the malabsorption syndrome can result from a genetical mutation that led to a disease such as atypic cystic fibrosis which is a genetic disease. Here, the patient inherits two defective genes from the DNA of each parent. Usually, the primary result of a genetic disease is the inability to produce a certain enzyme normally, which is a type of protein used to speed up or catalyze chemical reactions necessary for cell function (Pelliccia, J., 2022).  This patient excessive water accumulation is due to his protein malnutrition. Individuals with low protein levels are unable to maintain a normal oncotic pressure; therefore, water is not reabsorbed into the circulation and, instead, causes body edema (McCance & Huether., 2019). Also, Low level of albumen will not help in term of holding salt or water.

This response occurred due to the patient’s lack of protein, starvation, and lack of a denture. Remember that food ingested without having been properly cut or chew will not be digested well. Edema is present due to the lack of protein in the blood. This patient’s albumen levels are expected to be low according to Suryawanshi, Vig, Masih, and Joseph (2018). Endothelial cell is responsible for the physiological response.

Improvement

It has been documented that a safe work environment that prioritizes process improvement may enhance patient experiences. An effective physician-nurse leader connection is one of the essential elements of this setting. Talk about an instance where you engaged or failed to engage a physician leader in patient experience initiatives.

What might you have changed or improved upon to do better?

What worked if you were successful?

Did any of these actions lead to safer patient outcomes? Why, or why not?

Strategic Planning

Preparation

The feedback you received on your care setting environmental analysis has been positive. Consequently, you have been asked to select one of the potential improvement projects you noted in your analysis and create a full, 5–10-year strategic plan to achieve the desired quality and safety improvement outcomes. You will develop your strategic plan, using either an AI approach (addressing the design stage), or by building on your SWOT analysis and applying a strategic planning model of your choice.

How you structure your plan should be based on whether you are taking an appreciative inquiry approach or using a specific strategic planning model. Regardless of the approach you choose, the requester of the plan has asked that you address the key points outlined below in the strategic plan requirements. In addition, your plan should be 6–8 pages in length.

As you prepare to complete this assessment, you may want to think about other related issues to deepen your understanding or broaden your viewpoint. You are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of your professional community. Note that these questions are for your own development and exploration and do not need to be completed or submitted as part of your assessment.

Strategic planning models aid in setting goals, establishing time frames, and forging a path toward achieving those goals. Consider the strategic planning models you are familiar with:

  • Which model would you choose to create goals and outcomes that could address the area of concern you identified in your Assessment 1 SWOT analysis?
  • Why is this model the best choice among alternatives?
  • How does goal setting through appreciative inquiry provocative propositions differ from goal setting in the strategic planning model you selected?

 Strategic Plan

  • Develop strategic goal statements and outcomes that reflect specific quality and safety improvements for your care setting. You should have at least one short-term goal (just-in-time to one year) and one long-term goal (five years or longer).
    • Determine realistic timelines for achieving your goals.
    • Explain how your short-term goals support your long-term goals.

Note: For plans based on an AI approach, the goal statements and outcomes are provocative propositions that may be refinements of the positive, yet attainable, goals that you proposed during the dream phase of your inquiry. For plans based on a SWOT analysis, the goal statements and outcomes are specific, measurable, and applicable to the area of concern in your analysis for which you proposed pursuing improvements.

  • Justify the relevance of your proposed strategic goals and outcomes in relation to the mission, vision, and values of your care setting.
  • Analyze the extent to which your strategic goals and outcomes, and your approach to achieving them, address:
    • The ethical environment.
    • The cultural environment.
    • The use of technology.
    • Applicable health care policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Explain, in general, how you will use relevant leadership and health care theories to help achieve your proposed strategic goals and outcomes.
    • Consider whether different theories are more applicable to the short-term or long-term goals of your strategic plan.
  • Evaluate the leadership qualities and skills that are most important to successfully implementing your proposed plan and sustaining strategic direction.
    • Identify those leadership qualities and skills that are essential to achieving your goals and outcomes and sustaining strategic direction.
    • Identify those leadership qualities and skills that will have the greatest effect on the success of your plan.

informatics

Identify at least 3 key concepts from the selected part of the textbook and provide clear and correct explanations. Writing shows a clear logical link between those concepts. Synthesize information from multiple sources (lectures, readings, activities) and derive a conclusion in your own words. The terminology used is clearly defined. Notes: – The reflection should be 500-600 words. – A part of points will be taken off for each criterion that was not met. – A late submission will be subjected to a point reduction each day after the deadline until it runs down to zero.

Week 4 Literature review

After identifying the articles to be used in your literature review, conduct a critical analysis of each article and summarize the findings. The literature you choose should support your proposed
intervention.
