Top of Form

Submit your paper topic in this discussion board. Argue the significance of the chosen issue in improving global public health. You need to select a community/state within a low/middle income (developing) country afflicted by the selected global public health problem.

Each topic should be supported by two studies from peer-reviewed journals.

Word limit 350, APA in-text citation and reference list required.

When student submitted the previous topic comments professor did

Good attempt! But more work is required, you need to cite 2 studies from a chosen country in Africa – please select one country only, example Nigeria and all articles should be focused on that community. For the paper you need 5 studies from the same country on the same topic. For each study you will review – Purpose, methods, results and recommendations.

Please submit your articles and citations – this needs to be re-done, I will re-grade.

This is too broad and what are your variable. This is not a study and also looks like a copy paste – you need to write in your own words.

Here is a suggested topic and paper:

Effect of ritualistic bathing on water quality of Ganga river in India.

See if you can find similar studies that explore the impact of independent variable (bathing) on dependent variable (water quality)

You need total 5 such studies.

All the Best,

A HISTORY OF NURSING ETHICS

The Nuremberg trials at the close of WWII offered disturbing questions. How can “good” people in traditionally honor-bound professions become complicit in some of the worst violations of humanity in history? What happens when individual professionals are not held to account by their peers, professions, and society as a whole? The trials showed how moral individuals within organizations can engage in morally “wrong” functions. “I was just following orders,” complicit healthcare providers, doctors, and nurses claimed.

Morality refers to principles that help determine what is “right” and what is “wrong.” Ethics is the related field that puts these principles to work to:

apply moral principles to choose “right” actions,

conduct relationships in an ethical manner, and

manage situations where a “right” action is clear but for some reason not possible.

Read the ethical dilemma below and explain your response and actions:

Nurse Is Instructed to Have Patient with Low Literacy Level to Sign Consent for Treatment

Scenario: Nurse Gloria is instructed by the attending physician to have Mr. Isaacs sign a consent form before a scheduled colonoscopy. As Nurse Gloria goes over the form with the patient, she notices he seems confused and is unsure where or how to sign the paperwork.

Ethical Dilemma: It is common for nurses to be the ones to get signatures on consent forms, especially for procedures like the one described in this scenario. When faced with a situation like the one here when the nurse is not sure that the patient understands what he is being told or if he can read, the decision of whether to delay a busy schedule to have the doctor come back and talk to the patient or explain to the best of her knowledge and get the patient’s signature may seem difficult to make.

Please adhere APA format when formulating response and action should incorporate EI and your actions and priorities and the EBP behind your decisions.

Week 6 Discussion 2

Betty, the chief nursing officer, had to make a decision about buying 120 new hospital beds for patient rooms. After she interviewed nurse mangers at the units where the beds were going to be placed, Betty compiled her findings and decided to contact a well-known equipment company to obtain prices and contracts. The equipment company’s executive salesperson, Jim, discussed options at length with her and invited her and her significant other to an upcoming all-expenses-paid lavish retreat at a five-star hotel in Hawaii to see demonstrations of the beds and to hear a comprehensive sales pitch. Betty thought to herself, “We badly need some relaxation and stress relief. Hawaii would be so much fun. Would it be wrong for us to go?”

· If you were Betty, what would you do? Give your rationale. Justify your answer with an ethical framework—a theory, approach, or principle.

· Do you consider this situation a conflict of interest? Why or why not? Give your rationale.

· What policies, if any, should be in place regarding a scenario such as this one? Do you have any such policies in place at work for similar situations? Do such policies impact day-to-day activities in any way? Explain.

Compose at least 2-3 paragraphs all in APA format with proper references.

Case Study:

A 24-year-old female presents to your office stating that she is troubled by headaches and fatigue. She says that she always feels tired and can’t sleep well, often waking up early if she gets to sleep at all. She describes her headaches as dull, aching, and generalized. These symptoms began about three weeks ago and have been getting worse. She reports a lack of interest in her usual activities, even the ones that she used to enjoy. She also reports that she is missing work due to fatigue and inability to concentrate. Although both her children are in school, she is concerned that she is “losing them”. She is worried that she might have “something bad” because she has difficulty concentrating and is having frequent crying spells. She reports a loss of appetite, with a weight loss of 10 pounds in the last month.

The patient has no significant past medical or psychiatric history and takes no regular medications. However, she takes ibuprofen for headaches. She denies using alcohol or drugs. The patient is married, with two elementary school-age children.

1.

1. What diagnosis do you believe may apply to this individual?

2. What classifications of medications can be used to treat this disorder? Which medication do you recommend and why?

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with in-text citations and corresponding references in APA format.

Discussion

 * Animal research is a necessary practice in the world of medical research, allowing scientists to develop life-saving interventions and to spot catastrophic problems before new techniques or products make their way to actual patients. However, this does not mean that we should deny that there are serious ethical issues involved.

* Animal testing is not a pretty or pleasant process. It causes pain and suffering to animal subjects, and legitimate cases of abuse have been uncovered by animal rights groups. Consequently, the practice should be tightly regulated, and alternative methods should be employed whenever possible.

1) Discuss a specific research study involving animals that had ethical issues.

2) What were the ethical issues involved?

3) What could have been done to conduct the research study differently to avoid these ethical issues?

Discuss

You are likely already upholding ethics in nursing and healthcare delivery in your current nursing practice experience. As mentioned in the introduction for this week, a patient-focused approach that promotes the delivery of safe, quality, and cost-effective healthcare for promoting positive patient outcomes represents a fundamental alignment to ethical principles for the delivery of healthcare. In your journey toward becoming a DNP-prepared nurse, you will continue to uphold ethical principles in your nursing practice and will likely continue to serve as an advocate for adhering to these principles in all you do.

For this Discussion, reflect on the case studies/scenarios related to ethical challenges presented in this week’s Learning Resources. Think about how these ethical challenges may mirror your own experiences in nursing practice. Consider what other ethical challenges may arise in your own nursing practice or as you continue your program of study.

Post an explanation of at least two significant ethical issues relevant to the DNP-prepared nurse. Then explain how these issues might compare to the types of issues you have encountered in your practice. Be specific and provide examples.
