What steps do you take to locate primary and peer-reviewed research articles when performing a literature search?
What resources are available to you to engage in a meaningful and successful literature search?
As you have explored throughout this course, Walden University provides vast resources for student support to ensure success in their academic program of study. When it comes to research and using Library resources, several support mechanisms are available to you as well.
Taking the first step to think about a research topic or area of interest and filtering that topic using a series of keywords and operations will be a fundamental component for performing a literature search in Walden Library’s databases. While the ultimate goal is to produce a set or results that match your search criteria, you must keep in mind that that the quality of the research articles obtained will likely vary. Thus, you must critically examine and analyze the aims of the research produced and how it aligns, confirms, or negates your topic or area of research. As you develop proficiency in this area, you will discover that you can extract content themes and frameworks to enhance future research and the need to identify additional research support.
For this Assignment, consult the Walden Library webinars and resources provided. These resources serve as a general good first step for performing literature searches and engaging with the databases of research available to you. Think about a research topic or area of interest to focus on for this Assignment. Then, search the Walden Library to locate and retrieve peer-reviewed research articles that pertain to your topic or area of interest.
6-paragraph assignment in which you do the following:
Improving Patient Readiness for Outpatient Palliative Care
Instructions: answer the following 2 questions and add them to the paragraph below. Cite, reference (should be within 7 years), no plagiarism, original work.
1. “Onboarding” without an explanation of what it is.
2. I think you should focus the lens on readiness more than onboarding. Your paper is about patient readiness. Your introduction should be better with how many people need Palliative care and how many aren't enrolling in palliative care because they do not understand what palliative care is.
Palliative care refers to alleviating and relieving the symptoms and pain of an incurable medical condition the patient is experiencing (Schlick & Bentrem, 2019). The palliative process begins with the onboarding process. The onboarding process for palliative care is critical in ensuring that patients and their families receive the highest quality of care and support. It involves the initial assessment, coordination and planning, communication and education, emotional and psychological support, and continuity of care. This process sets the stage for a collaborative and supportive relationship between patients, their families, and the providers.
Go back to the discussion topic in Week 1 and review your discussion posts.
Have any of your thoughts or concepts of trends in nursing have changed since week 1. Please share specific examples.
THIS IS WHAT I POSTED IN WEEK 1:
In my opinion when I think of nursing issues and trends, I think of the nursing staff shortages, increase in patient ratios, nursing advocacy, growth of telehealth, and advances in technology in the field. In this present time, things are changing rapidly and with that comes change in the field as well. An example is telehealth, which allows patients to have consults via phone/video with a medical professional. Nurses are also exploring IT nursing with all these new technical advances. Which brings to nurses also leaving the clinical setting for a nonclinical nursing career which leads to shortages in the hospitals with this growth of nonclinical nursing careers.
